Robbie brings extensive experience in venture capital law and early-stage investing to his role as director of investments at MaRS IAF, supporting founders on fundraising, strategy and execution.

Before joining IAF, Robbie was the first hire and senior associate at Staircase Ventures, and he played a key role in the launch of the firm, building its internal operations and establishing its brand in the venture ecosystem. During his tenure, he sourced and evaluated opportunities throughout Canada, invested in pre-seed and seed-stage companies, and served as a board observer across the portfolio.

Robbie began his career as a lawyer at Fasken in their emerging technology and venture capital practice group, where he advised startups and VC funds on complex venture capital financings and M&A transactions. He holds a dual JD/MBA degree from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law and Rotman School of Management, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University.
